QDE's Mastodon account has moved from @qde@c.im to @qde@qde.social.
The old account has been migrated, including its followers. If you already followed @qde@c.im, there is nothing you need to change.
Why we moved
We wanted QDE's social presence to run on infrastructure we control. Mastodon makes that practical: the account stays part of the wider Fediverse, but the instance, data, moderation choices, and hosting stack are ours to operate.
The new instance runs on our own Ryzen VPS in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. That keeps the service close to the rest of our hosting platform and avoids depending on a third-party instance for account availability.
Running it ourselves gives us:
- Direct control over instance data and administration
- A hosting environment we already understand and maintain
- Fewer external dependencies for QDE announcements
- A social account that fits the Fediverse model of independent, connected servers
About qde.social
qde.social is QDE's self-hosted Mastodon instance. It is part of the wider Fediverse, so users on other compatible servers can follow and interact with us normally.
The instance is built and maintained by the QDE team on hosting infrastructure operated by Hizakura B.V. from our Amsterdam data center.
We use it for product updates, service notes, infrastructure posts, and the occasional behind-the-scenes note that does not need a full blog article.
Follow the new account
Future announcements and updates will come from @qde@qde.social.
Follow the new account if you want QDE updates from a Mastodon instance we operate ourselves.
